From Bromance to Frenemies (Rahm, Rory, Sheffler, Koepka)
Pro golf's got drama
GM. This is Easy Pars. The golf newsletter that’s covering all the tea, this morning (as the kids say).
Speaking of tea, the Arnold Palmer Invitational started this morning!
Here’s what we’ve got for you:
Scheffler misses Rahm
Rory’s hangry for another Major
The new PGA entity looks player-led!
Scheffler’s Sentimental Toward Guys Leaving the PGA
“To be completely honest, Jon was one of my favorite people to play against.”
It’s been Scheffler-heavy news cycle, in the golf world this week. First, we find out that Scottie’s bringing a whole new putter to the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
In our opinion, there’s no way it can do worse for him.
Currently, Scheffler sits 144th in putting on the PGA 👀. He’s switching from a blade putter to the Taylormade Spider-X.
If he cuts his putting deficit in half, he’ll be virtually unstoppable the rest of the year — especially with many of his top-playing friends gone to LIV. He continued in the Sky Sports interview with,
“I’ve got a lot of friends over there [meaninng LIV]. Brooks left, DJ left, and I definitely miss seeing a lot of those guys.”
Honestly feel bad for the guy.
BUT with so many stars leaving the PGA nest, the field is wide open for Scottie to dominate…if he fixes the flat stick.
Rory’s Got One Thing in Mind
The next season of “Full Swing” just dropped on Netflix.
It’s interesting to see some players’ thoughts on the great golf played in 2023 (while it was being played).
One of the most interesting was Rory’s take on The Masters. Rory didn’t make the cut, but was rooting for Rahm on the final day — for two big reasons.
First, because Brooks moved to LIV and Rory wanted a PGA guy to win.
Second, and likely more importantly, Rory didn’t want Koepka to have more Majors than him.
At last years Masters, both Rory and Brooks had four majors.
Rory had been hard at work to win at least 5, to cement his legacy as one of the best of his era (being the era after Tiger).
Rory was happy to see Rahm get the green jacket, but was crushed very soon after, when Koepka won his 5th Major title, at the PGA Championship.
Here’s a short clip of Full Swing talking about Rory and Koepka’s high-tension Masters practice round together last year:

The coming 2024 Majors are going to be interesting.
Rory still doesn’t have a green jacket, and Scheffler’s new putter may win his 2nd, and we can’t wait to see the menu Rahm picks for the dinner!
Vice Chairman, Tiger 🐅
Remember the deal that was struck? No, not the LIV/PGA deal, but the deal we really didn’t know was happening until it was introduced?
Well, we now have the leadership structure, and gotta say, it looks promising.
One of the big things dealing with the PGA of old is the lack of players voices, deciding important things about how the game is played and players are treated.
Now, that changes…we think…we’ll see.
The new entity, named PGA Tour Enterprises, now has a 13-member Board of Directors.
This board has 9 PGA tour players! Tiger is Vice Chairman of the Board, too.

Meme of the Day
You all see Steph Curry’s celebration, right after draining a 3-pointer? Who hasn’t taken a practice swing at work?
😂😂
That is it for today! Now, it’s time to mix our lemonade with iced tea and watch Scottie tee off in 10 minutes (from when we send this email).
Hopefully, he avoids 3-putts. We’ll be back with the coverage in Monday’s issue. Until then…
Later gator,
E.
