Doesn't feel like the off season, does it?

+Tiger, Tiger, Tiger!

GM. This is Easy Pars. The golf newsletter that lost track of how many times Tiger’s returned to the field. (But each time feels like the first.)

Here’s what we’ve got for you today:

  • Tiger is becoming even more powerful to golf.

  • And he’s got a new man on the bag.

  • He cut his Pro-Am round short, is that a sign?

Tiger Joined the Policy Board Because of the PIF/PGA Deal

Remember when Tiger joined the policy board, subjecting himself to full-day meetings about some of the most boring (yet important) stuff to pro golf?

Yeah, that’s because he was frustrated with the deal between the PGA and the PIF (the entity that owns LIV Golf).

Now, golf news outlets are saying Tiger is taking up the mantle of “golf’s most influential statesman.”

Is that true? Maybe.

Just this week, rumors (from news sources) broke that Jay Monahan is about to be canned.

But now, Monahan’s scrambled to say he’s having a meeting with the Saudi owners, next week.

Could Tiger be wielding his statesman powers? Will the deal fall through? Is Monahan really out?

As with most LIV news this past year — We’ll see.

This comes right when Tiger’s making his…how manyeth return to professional golf?

Speaking of Tiger’s return…He’s got a new caddy!

This past year, Joe LaCava left Tiger’s bag after 12 years. This left Tiger with a spot to fill for his 4-day golfing spree at the Hero World Challenge.

Who took the spot? Rob McNamara.

What are his caddying qualifications? Um, zero. BUT, he’s been Tiger’s right-hand man for nearly 20 years. Tiger trusts him with his business, so why not trust him with your golf swing?

We’ll see how that goes — the Hero World Challenge kicks off about the time you’re reading this email (Thursday)!

Further reading: You should read about McNamara’s go-get-em attitude. It’s impressive. GolfWeek did a good write up on it here:

Tiger Cuts His Pro-Am Round Short

Yes, we’ll have to wait and see if Tiger has more PGA power. And we’ll also have to wait and see how his game’s doing, later today.

But early signs aren’t great. Not only is he taking a bag man rookie out for the round — he only played nine in the Pro-Am round, yesterday.

Seems not to be injury or fatigue-related, but it’s a bit odd, for sure.

That said, 🐅’s swing is looking 👏

Meme of the Day

😂😂

That’s all for today, Golf Fan. We’re about to keep refreshing the Hero World Challenge leaderboard page until our hand hurts.

We’ll be back Monday with a detailed look at this coming weekend’s happenings.

Later gator,
