Hometown heroes and legionaires ⚔️

GM. This is Easy Pars. The golf newsletter that loves a good, friendly rivalry on the course.

Here’s what we’ve got for you today:

  • So close to the Hall of Fame

  • Taylormade’s Qi10 too strong?

  • Let’s talk about Rahm’s LIV team

You couldn’t write a better story

This past weekend was the LPGA Drive On Championship at Brandenton Country Club, in Bradenton Florida.

Two of the best ladies on tour, Lydia Ko and Nelly Korda, found themselves in a battle for the win.

At first, Korda seemed the clear winner. Going into the last day, she was well ahead. Not to mention Bradenton is her home town.

But…she ended up behind Ko, who had a couple of knock out moments (including a tap in eagle, which you can see below).

Lydia had the ambition in her eye, why? If she won, she’d be in the LPGA Hall of Fame.

Hometown hero vs. GOAT aspirations on the last two holes of a tournament?

In the end, Korda came back for the W — cementing her place as a hometown hero.

Doesn’t get any better. Congrats to Korda on her 9th LPGA win. We’re sure Bradenton is proud!

Now, let’s talk about her driver…

Taylormade the clear winner for the best driver?

All the major golf equipment brands are running for the best new driver on the market.

After the “fargiveness” debacle, Taylormade looks to have had a chip on their shoulder.

Let’s recap the drivers:

  • Taylormade has the Qi10

  • Callaway has the Paradym Ai Smoke

  • Ping has the Max 10k

Well, at least this early on in the 2024 season, the Qi10 is blowing away the competition.

Rory won in Dubai, barely beating Tommy Fleetwood. Both rocking a Taylormade Qi10 in the bag.

Nelly Korda won in Bradenton with a Taylormade, too. Oh, and Thorbjorn Olesen won the lastest DP World Tour tournament.

One guess as to his driver of choice.sen

Tyrel Hatton is now a Legionnaire

A few weeks ago, Rahm shocked the world of golf (and sports, really) with his move to LIV.

Ever since, it seems like things have been unorganized (at best).

The first tournament is a few days away (in Mayakoba), and one of Rahm’s teammates hasn’t officially said he’s joined LIV, let alone Legion XIII!

News broke, hours ago, that Tyrrell Hatton signed a $60M deal to join LIV and Rahm’s team. If so, it’s a big win for the PIF and Rahm.

Rahm and Hatton made a phenomenal pairing during the Ryder Cup.

But is the news true? Likely so. That said, there is still no mention of Rahm’s team on the official LIV website, so…🤷‍♂️

😂😂

That’s it for today, golf fan. We’ll be back Thursday, almost certainly with more details about Rahm’s team?

We’ll see.
