LIV, roast, flash mobs (and monster putts)

Invite Koepka to your next corporate event

GM. This is Easy Pars. The golf newsletter that remembers your good shots better than your bad rounds.

Here’s what we’ve got for you today:

  • A good putt to end on

  • LIV gets flashed mobbed, but is anyone watching?

  • Brooks Koepka is a savage (on and off course)

  • Why is everyone still talking about these leaked docs?

A most awesome way to finish a career as a pro golfer

Michelle Wie West putt her final putt as a professional golf player this weekend at the US Women’s Open.

And it was pretty awesome to watch.

She landed a 31-foot putt to save par on the 18th hole on Friday. Check out the video to see it in action.

Unfortunately, this great shot wasn’t enough to help her make the cut.

This was officially her last shot as part of the LPGA. She had announced that this would be her last tournament and will retire.

Wie West, at only 33, cites physical reasons as well as wanting to dedicate more time to her family as the reasons for her retirement.

Will this be the last we see of her?

Who knows? She’s still only 33, she could take a ten-year break and make a comeback.

Whatever she chooses to do, we’re just happy to have witnessed so much awesome golf with Michelle Wie West.

Flash Mobs, remember those?

Have you ever found yourself thinking, whatever happened to flash mobs?

Didn’t they go extinct sometime around 2020?

Good news, thanks to LIV Golf, they’re still alive and well in 2023.

Apparently, LIV seems to think that the one thing missing from professional golf are flash mobs.

So they took it upon themselves to fix that at this past weekend's LIV event in London.

Did it do the trick and go viral?

Sort of. From what we’ve seen, it got shared in golf Twitter, but most people seem to think that flash mobs on a professional golf course are kinda cringe.

I mean you can’t blame them for trying, after all, their viewership hasn’t ever been stellar, even though the golf has been solid.

Here’s how Shooter reacted:

LIV Golf: Come for the flash mobs, stay for the golf…until that deal’s signed.

A word from motivational speaker, Brooks Koepka

As we all know, Brooks Koepka is an awesome competitor.

The guy shows up when it matters and plays his best golf when the stakes are the highest.

That’s why we’ve seen him tearing it up this season both at the Majors and on LIV.

His secret: Hard work.

Koepka’s work ethic is notable, and one of the aspects of his game that he’s brought over to his LIV team, Smash GC.

And as it seems, Matthew Wolff who has had a not-so-great record this LIV season with the Smash GC isn’t putting in the work.

To the point that Brooks decided to call him out.

“A lot of talent, but I mean the talent’s wasted.” — Brooks Koepka on Matthew Wolff.

Those were his comments…about his team mate! Will Wolff still be part of Smash GC next season?

Who knows, but his odds aren’t so good.

Then again, will there even be a next season? That’s double bad on Wolff’s chances.
