Masters gets rained out?

Good morning afternoon. This is Easy Pars. The golf newsletter that plays all 18, no matter what the weather’s like.

But first…NO MASTERS SPOILERS. We’ve taken a look and let’s just say someone is having a near-record round at Augusta 👀.

Other than that, mums the word. Now let’s get into it.

1 in a million chance of happening

What Seamus Power pulled off at the Masters par-3 contest was epic.

Actually, it was borderline unbelievable.

More accurately, the odds of a pro player getting back-to-back holes in one are extremely low.

How low you ask?

The odds are about 1 in 6.5 million.

To put it into perspective, you’re more likely to get hit by lightning, not once, but twice.

We saw one of the most incredible displays of golf skill in what might take years, if not decades, to happen again.

If this was a hint of what’s to come later this week, then this will be one memorable Masters.

No means no.

One of the qualifying criteria for the Masters is to be ranked in the top-50 for the previous year.

Meeting the criteria has become increasingly difficult for LIV golfers since the LIV tournament doesn’t accrue world championship points.

This technicality has led LIV golfers to compete in any of the tournaments that will still take them and that will help them rack up some ranking points.

Many chose to compete in DP World Tour events where they were still eligible.

But all of that is coming to an end.

The DP World Tour has won a legal battle against LIV Golf and successfully banned players from competing in their events.

This means that next year, we’ll have significantly fewer LIV players at the Masters, and definitely, none will be seen at the DP World Tour events.

Because if they do show up, they’ll be slapped with a £100,000 fine.

Ouch.

Why does it always rain on me?

The Masters is one of the most traditional, in every sense, tournaments.

It's got massive history and a legacy they will protect at all costs.

This means that the Masters is not the place for drama. And they do everything in their power to make sure that there is none.

Especially this year with the whole LIV/PGA tour debacle.

But one thing they can’t control is the weather, and it seems that there’s a high probability of some weather drama.

Guess that’s why the tour shop is so busy?

Fans have been on edge since the beginning of the week when the weather forecast showed a very high probability of rain starting on Thursday.

The good news is that as of Wednesday night, the forecast has improved, but not by much.

Thursday should have some decent golfing conditions. But Friday will probably have some rain.

And the weekend doesn’t look that good, to be honest.

The game will go on with a little rain, but it could be delayed, postponed, or even worse if a thunderstorm develops.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope the weather does us a solid and lets the Masters play out.
