💥 Ok, now THAT was a Golf Tournament

But we would've loved a playoff.

GM. This is Easy Pars. The golf newsletter that thinks Scottie may now be the best golfer in the world.

Here’s what we’ve got for you today:

  • We (finally) got what we’ve been missing in 2024

  • Scottie’s mallet smashes (back-to-back)

  • Have new stars begun to shine? (Wyndham’s wild lip out)

The Players gave us tremendous golf (and no controversy)

FINALLY. Good golf and nothing else.

The Players was one of the best golf tournaments we’ve had from the PGA in a couple of years.

Honestly, could be the best since LIV launched.

We’ve been in a drought. The 2023 Masters was great, but other than that, 2022-2023 seemed bleak (remember the Ryder Cup rout?).

This past Thursday through Sunday was, well, let’s see what the internet says:

Shoutout: Can we all take a minute to appreciate our greenskeepers? We say it often, here at Easy Pars, but just watch this short video of the TPC Sawgrass team, busting butts to get the course ready for the players and fans. Kudos.

Is Scottie inevitable now?

A couple issues ago, we said with so many of the top players gone to LIV, Scottie has an opportunity to dominate.

Well, with back-to-back wins and his second win (in a row) at The Players, he’s certainly charging. He’s the first person ever to win The Players twice in a row!

That said, he’s been charging for a long time.

But his putting was always a thorn in his side, until the past two weeks.

And Scheffler was playing with a neck injury (which gave golf Twitter/X some great meme fodder).

If his Spider-X putter stays hot, Scottie is virtually unstoppable. That said, the LIV guys are coming to town in just 24 days (aka The Masters!).

We’ve only had a few awful tournaments in the 2024 season. It’s good to have the focus be on good golf, big wins and big missed putts — not kidnapping or burger poisoning allegations.

Speaking of missed putts…

It really came down to the 18th

Wyndham Clark had a commanding lead on Saturday. On Sunday, players were charging all around him.

The golf was just superb.

By the time the final players got to the 18th tee, it was Scottie in the lead and 3 players with a chance to tie him.

Two of those three wouldn’t have a shot. But Wyndham landed it close for a decent look at birdie.

Clark read the putt perfectly, his pace was a hair fast, and Scottie waited off the 18th, mentally preparing for a playoff.

Then, possibly the worst-ever televised lip out was recorded. Just see it for yourself:

Yes, Scottie has won two tourneys in a row. More surprising is that Clark has runner-upped both of those same contests!

When titans leave, sometimes there is a gap. However, after a while, as the Macho Man Randy Savage said; “The cream…rises to the top..oooh yeeah.”

Think we could be seeing that now on the PGA.

Meme of the Day

😂😂

This X account takes the week’s best sports pics and matches them up with art. It’s amazing.

That’s it for today, golfer.

Next up, Valspar. We’re back to being hopeful, when it comes to anticipating good golf. Will more cream rise to the top, this week?

Later gator,

E.
