🎶Party at the L-I-V, but is it working?

GM. This is Easy Pars. The Golf Newsletter that thinks the more party holes in golf, the better.

Here’s a quick peek at what we’ve got today:

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery

Waste Management Phoenix is without a doubt a fan favorite. And the 16th hole gave us wonders, such as the 16th streaker, this year.

Bottom line: The 16th hole is downright legendary. More things like a mullet-clad fan streaking, holding up the game, are much needed in golf.

So when you see something that works, why not just copy it? After all, the PGA has seemingly snagged some ideas from LIV, so isn’t it ok for “golf but louder” to take one of the PGA’s best ideas, too?

And that’s exactly what LIV is doing for the Adelaide stop of the tournament.

In an attempt to attract a younger audience, LIV Golf has introduced a new "party hole" to its tournaments, which bears a striking resemblance to the PGA's popular 16th hole at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

The hole features a giant dance floor, a DJ spinning the latest hits, and an open bar with all your favorite libations, along with bikini-clad caddies.

It’s called a Watering Hole. More or less replicating the whole vibe of WM’s 16th hole.

And with 60,000 fans expected to attend the event, the Watering Hole is surely going to be one of the main attractions of the event. (It is in Australia, after all.)

Now the only question that remains is, will anyone watch it on the CW Network?

Another last-minute LIV change

LIV does teams, we all know this. But…the teams never really played together…until now…kinda.

After looking at the shotgun start schedule (another unique LIV feature), it seems scientifically formulated to attract views and coordinate camera coverage.

Here’s a look to show what we mean:

Starting in hole one, Koepka and Cam Smith aren’t with their teams.

Why?

Well, Koepka is arguably one of the biggest names in LIV at the moment. Smith is also a superstar — and is in his home nation of AUS.

In fact, the first 4 holes are all walking, talking clickbait — getting as many people to tune into the CW as possible.

On hole 2, there’s Niemann who came in top 5 at the Masters. And Dustin Johnson (another top LIV name). Hole 4, it’s DeChambeau, Serg, and Phil (who placed second at the Masters, right beside Koepka).

Holes 5-18 are all their respective teams.

Honestly, what seems like the reason for this pairing schedule? Views. And for the teams starting on 5-18 (with undoubtedly less televised coverage):

Why bother?

As the next major on the line, the US Open, approaches, some LIV players have decided not to bother with it.

About a dozen LIV golfers, including Bubba Watson, Paul Casey, Charles Howell III, and Ian Poulter have decided to not sign up for the event.

Sidenote: Since they aren’t even close to being in the top 100, the likelihood of them receiving an invitation is null.

So this could be the equivalent of finding out your girlfriend is about to breakup with you and giving her the axe first.

Probably after seeing the stellar performance of team LIV at the Masters, Kerry Haigh, the chief championships officer for the PGA, has said he “absolutely” would consider LIV Golf players in trying to put together the best field.

A promising sign the two leagues are getting closer to a comfortable co-existence.

It’ll be super interesting to see the performance of team LIV at the US Open.

As we’ve said in the past, more golf = more better. And just like at the Masters, the US Open seems to be on track to be another memorable event.

Wholesome Phil Mickelson gets some Twitter love

Honestly, it feels great not writing about something that Phil said that enraged the whole world.

Is he trying a hole new image (pun intended for those checking grammar :)

Just like last week, we covered how awesome he did at the Masters. This week we’re covering how awesome he is as a regular human.

Phil shared on Twitter a video of him and his dad going at it in a chipping contest. With some fun and heartwarming commentary, Phil shared with all his fans how he spends time with his dad playing golf.

And as a result, dozens of tweets have mentioned how great it is to see this wholesome side of the Golf superstar.

Kudos Phil. It’s most excellent that you choose to share with us fans moments that are so close to your heart.
