Our Predictions for pro golf in 2024

GM. This is Easy Pars. The golf newsletter that loves to try to guess the future of Big Golf.

Here’s what we’ve got for you today:

  • Our 2024 predictions for the PGA and LIV Golf

  • Our heartfelt holiday wishes

  • Our favorite memes from this year

Here’s what we think will happen (4 big predictions)

Jay Monahan’s role shifts (or he’s out altogether)

If the PGA/PIF deal doesn’t happen this month (see our next prediction), Monahan can’t stay where he’s at.

Does that means he’s 100% out? No.

Could be deal advisor, could still sit on a board, who knows. But if the deal is delayed or collapses - Jay’s gone…or moved.

The PGA/PIF deal timeframe will be pushed into the New Year

We’ve got 10 days, as of the sending of this newsletter. That’s not a lot of time.

And given how much news we’ve not seen, we’re assuming talks are going about as slow as Cantlay reading a putt.

That said, we don’t believe the deal will immediately fall through. It could, but this arbitrary date is not binding in any way (that we know of). What’s that mean?

It’s a guideline.

Putting the lack of news and asinine December 31st due date together, we sense a delay here at EasyPars.

That said, the deal could ultimately fall through.

LIV signs another powerhouse player

LIV, out of nowhere, signed the #2 player in the world. LIV, out of nowhere, announced a deal with the PGA.

Key point? Like them or not, LIV manages to make news.

After the Rahmpacolypse, for closer to a billion dollars, we’d expect that both top PGA players and LIV have their phone lines open.

Who will it be? Not sure.

Obviously not Rory, although that would arguably top Rahm. Hovland, while saying he’s playing the 2024 PGA season, did say “a lot of money” multiple times.

Media coverage of LIV will tell the story of the merge

In the beginning, LIV Golf was laughable to golf media giants. No ratings! It’s not going to last! On and on.

Then the deal was announced.

We covered the story about how the biggest golf news sites were changing their tune on LIV. At least according to the general sentiment of the headlines.

If the deal is in turmoil, we expect negative headlines to return to the home pages of Big Golf. If it goes through, we expect those same entities to embrace team golf like it was always part of the plan.

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate

If you celebrate, we’d like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and the happiest New Year!

May you all have new irons and a membership at your local course nestled safely under the tree.

On that note, it’s time for the EasyPars crew to take some time off. Don’t worry, we’ll be back in your inbox Thursday, January 4th, 2024!

Now, to our favorite memes of this year.

Memes of the Day Year

😂😂

Works every time.

Now we know!

Is Tiger back to flushing the ground? We’ll see.

Technically, a LIV player did win The Masters 👀

Looks like this is happening.

That’s it for today this year, golf fan. 2023 has been fun and wild. Next year is bound for more incredible golf and insane shenanigans.

We’ll be here to cover it! Hopefully you’ll be there with us.

To your future, and as always, later gator.
