Someone asked Scottie Scheffler why he's bad at putting

Phil's getting heated on Twitter, too

GM. This is Easy Pars. The golf newsletter that would never ask you why your putting game is so bad.

Here’s what we’ve got for you today:

  • Phil tweets angrily…twice

  • Someone asks Scottie why his putts are bad

  • And more!

Phil gets into it on an angry tweet.

It’s our favorite time of the week, “The Angry Phil Mickelson tweet time.”

So who ignited his anger this time?

Brandel Chamblee.

In all fairness, Phil is usually calm and collected in most tweets, and doesn’t seem like he’s trying to stir anything up. That said, he often choose opportune times to get saucy, probably to spurn interest in LIV

Or at least to keep it at the top of the news.

But he’s the unofficial spokesperson for LIV, so that puts him in the crosshairs of almost every media channel at one point or another. So, he’s gotta pull in the audience, like a daytime tv show host.

And when it comes to Chamblee, well he’s not a stranger to stirring up controversy. As a matter of fact, he even came short of calling Tiger a cheater back in the day.

A statement for which he would later apologize.

Nowadays, Chamblee’s main thing is about how he dislikes LIV for purely political reasons. So he uses this as a way to poke at some of its players.

This time it was directed at Phil, and Phil being Phil, wasn’t going to take it.

TLDR:

  • Chamblee: “LIV is evil and you, Phil, should be ashamed of yourself.”

  • Mickelson: “You’re a hypocrite Brandel, you should be ashamed of yourself.”

Since they seem to have blocked each other, no meaningful discussion or argument could be created.

Like most things in TwitterLand, they fizzled out and just created some short-lived drama.

Phil gets into it on Twitter, again. But much more vanilla.

This one involves good guy and grown-up Jon Rahm.

Phil tweeted that the way the LIV championship is laid out makes perfect sense for players that want to go after the Majors.

It makes sense, given the awesome performances that team LIV has had.

When they asked Jon Rahm about it, after he had not-so-great PGA Championship, he replied in typical Jon Rahm fashion.

Like a regular grown-up would.

As much as the reporter would have liked to get something more saucy out of him, it didn’t happen.

Rahm simply stated that different things work for different people. And that he’s glad it's been working out for some of the LIV guys.

And that’s it.

A professional golfer expresses his opinion in a non-conflictive way on another golfer’s opinion.

“So, what’s up with your putting Scottie?”

Sometimes golfers get asked the tough questions.

And this time, during an interview with Amanda Renner, she more or less asked him: “What's up with your putting Scottie?”

A totally valid question. Here’s a look at her asking it (probably):

Scheff wasn’t doing all that awesome at the Charles Schwab Challenge. He was on track for a top-10 finish, but not a top-3. Which he ended up getting after scoring an awesome ace.

It’s not like he was doing terrible, It’s just that when you’re number one, you’re expected to win.

So what did Scottie answer?

“Putting is hard and I’m working on it.”

Check out the interview for the deets, but it was a solid golf question and it got a solid golf answer. It let us into the number one’s mindset and how he approaches his performance.

Which is always cool.

But is there something up with Scottie’s putting?

Not really.

His putting game is A-Ok. Or just about average for the tour if we look at the stats.

It’s just that compared to every other aspect of his game, where he is mind-boggling excellent, his putting is just fine.

What would happen if Scheff steps up his putting game? Hopefully, we’ll find out soon, because he admitted that it’s one of the areas where he’s putting a lot of work into.

Meme of the Day

😂😂

That’s it for today, golf fan. We’ll be back on Monday, with a whole new dose of Dr. Phil Mickelson lookin crazy.

Later gator,
