One shoots an 80, and the other gets their felony charges dropped
Wow.
Yesterday, the likely last turn of Scottieās arrest happened when Kentucky prosecutors dropped all charges against Scheffler.
Arresting officer, Bryan Gillis, even released a statement.
TBH, it was a great play for him. He has to know a lot of people are itching against police. Then, he had to go and offend a whole lot of people who back the blue by arresting the #1 golfer a few hours before his tee time š.
Hereās the statement, itās worth the read:
BREAKING: @wave3news troubleshooters just got this lengthy statement from @LMPD Det. Bryan Gillis on the dropped charges and the comments from Scheffler's attorney. He says: "To be clear, I was drug by the car, I went to the ground." Also mentions the $80 pants bit...

Our favorite highlights:
Mention of $80 āfreakingā pants
Telling Scottie in an official PR that āitās all goodā lol
Alludes to it being a legit arrest and maintaining that he was drug to the ground by the vehicle š¤·āāļø
Wild, but weāre glad itās over. Remember Schefflerās attorney, Steve Romines (and those mutton chops)? He may not be so excited. His response was live and in-person, not in a written statement.
āThatās why you donāt talk to the police.ā
NEW: Scottie Scheffler's attorney issues a fiery response to the charges being dropped against Scottie Scheffler. Listen to what Romines told @NataliaWAVE3 when she asked why Scheffler originally agreed with the claim that he dragged Det. Gillis: @wave3news

To be fair, it was a response to a question about the latest released video, where Scottie was, according to Romines, āinterrogatedā with āleading questionsā.
Hereās that video, in the form of a X post.

āHe didnāt say police get out of the car, he just hit me with his flashlight and yelled get out of the car..ā
Thoughts?

Have we mentioned weāre glad itās over?
So, how about our other world #1?
Even though one is scot-free (see what we did there), Nelly Korda is still under the proverbial gun.
Could she, like Scheff, be having a bit of a fall under the weight of the pressure (sans the mug shot)?
Well, she shot 80 in her first round of the U.S. Open.
According to her, āMaking a 10 on a par 3 will definitely not do you any good at a U.S. Open.ā
Hereās the video of her landing in the water 3X on said par 3. Itās as rough to watch as a 6-putt.
Hereās the clip of her addressing the round in a presser:
"Just a bad day in the office."
Nelly Korda addressed her round after shooting an 80 to begin her 2024 U.S. Women's Open.

Honestly, she may come back for a phenomenal finish though. Why do we think so?
She went to practice immediately after the round.

Thatās champion behavior. Sheās only competing against herself.

NOTE: For those who may think this is real, it is an edited image. Her water bottle did look similar though.
As always, we hope to provide you with the best highlights with the best takes in golf. And weāll be back at it ā Monday.
