Donā€™t call it a comebackā€¦

ā€¦he just needed a new putter.

Remember last week, when Scottie Scheffler was number one in everything, except putting (144th)?

We also mentioned, in Thursdayā€™s issue, that Scottie was bringing a new putter (Taylormade Spider-X) to The Arnold Palmer.

In a phrase ā€” it worked.

Scottie was 16 for 16 on putts within 10 feet. He was number one in the field for strokes gained putting in his final round.

The result: His 2nd win at the AP Invitational by 5 strokes.

Not to mention, he blew up golf twitter/X with people who were astonished at the turnaround.

One thingā€™s for sure, Schefflerā€™s got a huge opportunity for dominance for the rest of 2024 ā€” at least in PGA events.

With so many LIV guys playing so well (you see Niemannā€™s ace in Hong Kong and AK shot a -5 round), The Masters and other majors, outside of the PGA, may give him a bit more competition.

Sure, thereā€™s Rory, Hovland, and others. But even they seem to admit that Scottieā€™s going nuts right now:

Anthony Kim is may be back!

AK didnā€™t come in last. Repeat, in his second event, Anthony Kim did not come in last.

He was 50/54.

BUTā€¦he shot 5 under on his last round. At that rate, if heā€™d done that the first and second round (LIV only does 3-round tourneys), heā€™d have been in contention to win!!

Thatā€™s a huge improvement from his first tournament.

It seems like heā€™s got eyes on actually performing, too. In fact, since LIV doesnā€™t have as many events, Kim signed up for another (not LIV) pro golf tournament this coming week.

Why? He knows heā€™s gotta get reps in.

Can he go from bottom 5 to top 5 in a LIV tournament, with the likes of Rahm, Niemann, Koepka, et al?

Weā€™ll see. But we have to wait until April.

The most shocking AK news? He hasnā€™t even been fit for clubs yet!

Seriously, pro golfers have more talent than others, sure. But theyā€™re also practically bionic with the right clubs in hand.

Kimā€™s been in the field with like a stock set from Dickā€™s, or something. Imagine if he shaves more strokes by dialing in his bag?!?!

My manā€™s going to pull an Inigo Montoya:

Hereā€™s his short, post-final-round interview:

Pro golfers need to chill

Well, this past week, you didnā€™t need to be ā€œmicā€™d upā€ to see the frustration.

The best in the world were taking out their frustrations on the course ā€” literally.

Hereā€™s one X/twitter user calling out two big names, Rory and Wyndham, for destroying property with their clubs. (Note: there are two videos, oneā€™s in another post attached.):

On behalf of your local greenskeeper, respect their work. Let out an expletive, but donā€™t take it out on the Bermuda šŸ™.

Meme of the Day

Arenā€™t we all. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

This is your friendly reminder we are on the cusp of entering prime pro golf season.

Next up, starting Thursday? The Players Championship!

Is it a major? No. But itā€™s often affectionately called ā€œthe 5th majorā€ and most notable names are going to play.

Weā€™ll take it and be back with a look, in Thursdayā€™s issue.

Later gator,

E.
